Veterinary Assistant

The veterinary assistant is a professional who supports animal health technicians and veterinarians in their tasks by performing essential duties to ensure the comfort and health of animals. Role and responsibilities 

1- Basic animal care

– Assist technicians in routine care such as ear cleaning, nail trimming, or administering simple treatments.

2-Preparation and follow-up

– Prepare the necessary equipment for home visits (medications, care tools, etc.)

– Clean and disinfect the equipment after each intervention to ensure impeccable hygiene. 

3- Logistical support

– Organize transportation to optimize home visits 

– Manage the supply of care products and materials necessary for interventions 

4- Safe and appropriate restraint

– Master gentle restraint techniques to safely immobilize animals while minimizing their stress. 

– Adapt handling methods based on the species, size, and behavior of the animal. 

5- Relationship with owners

– Explain the care provided and offer simple advice for the well-being of the animals

– Observe the behavior of animals in their environment and relay important information to the veterinary team
